About the event

Tickets are now on sale to view a live filming of the PBS show “The Life of a Musician”, featuring The Church Sisters. The house concert will be filmed on Saturday, October 14, 2023, beginning 7 pm (doors open at 6:15 pm). The house concert filming will take place in the Church of the Perpetual Boogie, a historic church under restoration, located in Danville, Virginia.

Savannah and Sarah, also known as The Church Sisters, grew up in Southwest Virginia. The girls began singing publicly after winning the WAKG Rising Stars Talent Competition in 2007. They went on to form a family band with their stepfather Jay and brother Seth and started touring their home state playing for small and large audiences. The Church Sisters released their first gospel album titled “Farther Along” at only 12 years old. Followed by two more self-produced albums: “There’s You” and a self-titled album. In 2012, they played for audiences across the midwest while opening for Brandon Heath on the Blue Mountain tour.

They’ve also been featured on television shows such as “Larry’s Country Diner”, “Country’s Family Reunion” and Daystar Networks “Gospel Music Showcase”. They’ve recorded albums alongside artists such as Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, Brad Paisley, and many others. The Church Sisters have worked with Grammy award-winning producer, Carl Jackson on compilation albums “Mark Twain: Words and Music” and “Orthophonic Joy”. In 2016, The Sisters signed their first record deal and started working on their debut country record with Grammy Award Winning producer, Julian Raymond.

They released “A Night At the Opry” in May of 2018. Traveling to fairs and festivals nationally and internationally, The Church Sisters have made impressive appearances at venues like the Ryman Auditorium and the Bridgestone Arena where they sang backup vocals for Eric Church and Hank Williams Jr. during the 2015 CMA’s.

After taking a break from making music together at the end of 2019, Sarah and Savannah made the decision to announce their reunion in 2022. The Church Sisters are now scheduling shows again featuring some of their most requested songs and some brand-new material. Stay up to date with them as they are working on a new album with a release date to be announced!

The house concert/live recording will be held at the Church of the Perpetual Boogie, 200 Jefferson Ave., Danville, Virginia beginning at 7 pm, with doors opening at 6:15pm.
